Celebrating the World Environment Day

05 Jun 2020

The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature. Constantly plants produce oxygen, and a mature tree cleans our air, absorbing 22 kilos of carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen in exchange. Despite all the benefits that our nature give us, we still tend to forget this kindness. That is why we need an international day commemorating Mother Nature and dedicated to taking care for her.

In this regard our pupils planted flowers – several small earthen lungs to gift us with more oxygen. This also has educational purposes, just like everything else we do at BSS Plovdiv. When you plant a flower, you need to take care for it. To water it. To fertilise it. And this is a long term commitment. This teaches the children to take care not only for the people around them but also for the nature.

And this is what the World Environment Day is all about.
